Journey through the wonders of Luxor
Sculpting in the Ramesseum: my dialogue with Ramses
Ramses dominates the scene, today as then.
Six years ago, I fantasized about sculpting in front of his majesty.
That day has come.
I have walked through the old streets of Luxor again, in the chaos of the local market, surrounded by the enticing scent of local delicacies, drinking tea and coffee, under the blazing sun.
I have bought the tools. Then the clay.
It is 3 p.m. The temple of Luxor is emptying. It is quieter now.
The evening shadows lengthen, revealing almost mystical details.
I have begun to mold the clay.
While Ramses is watching, I create.
