My return to Brussels
Art as redemption: the Catharsis Project experience
How Brussels nurtured my human and artistic growth
When I stepped off the train in Brussels, it felt like I had never left.
The cobblestone streets whispered of a younger version of me, a mexican boy wide-eyed with ambition, stepping into a world of art and self-discovery.
Those years were raw, filled with lessons not just about art but about life.
I worked alongside local artists, their talents dazzling yet often shadowed by struggles with addiction and burnout.
Their resilience taught me that art isn’t just creation, it’s survival.
A vision takes shape
Amid the challenges, an idea began to form—a way to translate those emotions into something tangible.
That’s how the Catharsis Project was born.
It became more than just a collection of paintings, it was a space where creativity was in dialogue with reality.
Each piece told a story of redemption, of finding beauty in brokenness.
The story behind Redención
Redención is the beating heart of this project. Crafted with oil on canvas, it’s an abstract portrait of the many selves we carry within us.
Fragmented faces overlap, creating a dreamlike balance of chaos and clarity.
It’s a visual journey, a reminder that redemption isn’t a destination but a constant pursuit.
Are you ready to uncover your own layers?
